Skin is the LARGEST organ in the body....what you put on it will be absorbed!

The long term debate....is what we put onto our skin going to effect us?  Here is my opinion on this topic.  I am not a doctor, this is just my view on this topic.

Skin is the largest organ of the human body!  So, why wouldn't you want to be attentive to the ingredients of the the items you place on your skin?  This goes for everything that you place on your skin: make-up, lotions, soaps, antiperspirants, perfumes, hair care, sun care, insect repellent, and even medical creams.  If you are placing something on your skin, the largest organ of your body, why wouldn't you want to be cognitive of what ingredients will enter into your body.

Let's think about this for a minute. There are LOTS of drugs that come in a "patch" form.  How do they work?  You place a patch on your skin and then it is absorbed, through your skin.  They are proven to work by scientists and approved by the medical industry.  So, people can sit and tell me that a patch that I place on my skin will work but that the make-up that sits on my face, the deodorant I apply (that lasts all day), the cream that I spread on my legs...those items won't be absorbed?  It can't be both.  Why did scientists develop the "patch" systems?  Because they know that the skin is an active organ that they can use.  They know that it will absorb the medications. So, right there....you should know that your skin can and will absorb what is placed onto it.

If you do a little research, you will find that there are many studies that have been done that have found that our bodies do absorb topical products placed on the skin or that it comes into contact with. Many studies claim that 60% of these topical products are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Something to think about the next time you reach for something that you will be placing on your skin.  And, did you know that some of the ingredients in some sunscreen brands are also the same ingredients listed as possible links to cancer?  That is ironic!  Hey, I think I will error on the safe side and pick natural products, with ingredients that are natural and safe.  But, you decide for yourself.

Did you know that most shampoo contains forms of wheat protein, oats, or fragrances.  And, most of the fragrances aren't even required to be disclosed because it is a "trade secret".  If you call the company of the brand of shampoo you buy they will often tell you that they can not guarantee the fragrances are gluten free.

Gluten in toothpaste!?!?!?!

Many people need to worry about gluten free toothpaste. I have heard many people tell me that their doctors even recommended it. I have found a great link and video that talks about the hidden sources of gluten.  Check out this link:http://www.glutenfreesociety.org/gluten-free-society-blog/avoiding-cross-contamination-and-hidden-gluten/
If you watch to the end (at around the 8 min 30 sec mark), the doctor talks about the hidden gluten in toothpaste and what gluten in tooth paste CAN do to you. It is a great video from a great source - "the gluten free society"
I buy my gluten free toothpaste from No Gluten Natural Girl Products!  A gluten free mouth is a happy mouth for me!

Is Gluten free just about food?

Is gluten free just about what food you eat?  No way!
Nothing is just about what we put into our mouths. I have a daughter who has an allergy to fish and shell fish.  She can't simply not eat fish, she also has to be aware of what foods were cooked in the same oil as fish.  She can't sit at a table that is not cleaned well, if someone before her ate fish.  She can not go into a Red Lobster or any other fish restaurant without getting sick.  She can not use ANY product that has fish oil in it.  For her it is about eating, touching, breathing, and the use of products.  Think about this for a minute.  This is the same for a peanut allergy.  Some kids can't be in the same room as peanuts.  Why would we think that gluten is any different?  Depending on your severity level, gluten can effect you if you breath it in in large amounts (such as going into a bakery).  The products you use need to be gluten free too!  Don't believe this....take the gluten free challenge.  If you need to be "gluten free" then try using only gluten free products for one month.  And, let us know how it changed your gluten free life.  Need ideas on where to buy some great gluten free products (laundry detergent, make-up, soap, and more) then stop by www.All-Gluten-Free.com
